Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove larger particles from drinking water. In reverse osmosis, an applied pressure is used to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property, that is driven by chemical potential, a thermodynamic parameter. Reverse osmosis can remove many types of molecules and ions from solutions, including bacteria, and is used in both industrial processes and the production of potable water. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be “selective”, this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes), but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as the solvent) to pass freely.

After the feed water is used it is then dumped to the main condenser. From the condenser it is then pumped to the deaerated feed tank. From this tank it then goes back to the steam drum to complete its cycle. The feed water is never open to the atmosphere. This cycle is known as a closed system or Rankine cycle.

Water Clarification

Water Clarification Clarifiers are used for the purpose of clarification of wastewater. Clarification is the widely accepted and the oldest used method in the effective treatment of water and wastewater. This operation includes removal of sediment, floating material and turbidity from raw wastewater.Water clarification process is not the one process but the combination of different processes. Large suspended solids get settle down by gravity. For non-settleable material removal is done through coagulation, sedimentation and flocculation. All these three processes are collectively called conventional clarification or the water clarification.
